Happy Days Things to Do with Dad This Father's Day

When it comes to Father's Day gifts one of the best ones is simply spending a little quality time with you (his grateful children.) So, the only real question is how to spend time together on Father's Day? Rather than buying Father's Day gifts, wrapping them and presenting them to him you could go on an experience day together and make some gifts.

Sound interesting? Well if your dad is a bit of a chocoholic he might enjoy a chocolate making workshop for two where he'll learn all about the history and secrets to making delicious chocolates from an expert chocolatier. He would also make his own brilliant box of chocolates to take home with him!

Or instead of buying a beautiful painting for him to hang on his wall, you could take him to a watercolour painting workshop for two where he'd get to paint his own brilliant work of art. These are just two creative ideas. However, there are loads of other ways to give your father, Father's Day gifts that are more interesting and unique than a boring old bottle of brandy or a simple cheeseboard.

It's also a good idea to get on the internet and find out what activities are available in your local area. You could be surprised to find a local brewery which offers guided tours and tastings or even find out that there's a special beer or food festival nearby. The Vinopolis wine tasting attraction in London is one great place that offers tours and you can purchase experience days (as Father's Day gifts) to visit Vinopolis from various websites making it really convenient and quick.

Make Him Feel Special

The whole day should be about your daddy on Father's Day so he shouldn't have to do any washing up or work too hard. If you can help it try to keep him from reaching in to his wallet too many times too because chances are he pays for a lot of things throughout the rest of the year! In fact, the baby boomer generation is spoiling their kids according to multiple studies on adult spending and adult children are now being 'helped out' financially by their parents to unprecedented degrees. Do your parents offer you help to buy cars, get on the housing ladder or even pay off bills or debts? One survey of 5,400 adults based in the US showed that almost half of the people in the study: "with a grown child older than 25 pay rent or provide housing for that child." An article on the study which was published by a group called Bright Horizons also said: "On average, these workers are providing $2,500 of financial support per year to their adult children." What all this means is that your father is likely to provide you with a lot of emotional, literal and financial support which is incredible considering how little support he may have had at a similar age. It's harder than ever to get on to the housing ladder or find funds for a car and he probably has helped you out a few times. Making your dad feel special and saying thanks for all of this, is what Father's Day is all about and Father's Day gifts should be memorable, fun and shared between you both!

Experience Days

Doing things together instead of giving your dad material Father's Day gifts has several advantages. You can take photos of the fun you have on the day and collect memories that way to show to friends and family. You could even compile the photographs afterwards and give the photo album to your dad as an extra present. Doing an activity will also be quite inspirational and could help your father to take up a new hobby or spend more time out in the fresh air doing healthy pursuits. It can be very comforting to know that you've given your dad a really happy day and it's something which, in a way is priceless. Another benefit to experience days is that they offer up the chance for you to help your father do an activity he's always wanted to do but never been able to. He could try his hand at flying a plane with an introductory flying lesson day if he's always wanted to learn to fly. Or he could go sailing with you if he's always wanted to try that out. In short, you could offer him the chance to realise a lifelong dream!
