Jetway is a computer company best knon for the production of motherboards and graphics cards … if it’s at all knowwn. But the compny also has a netbook called Ecmo Em100 netbook.
Analysts are sayiung that Intel is milkinmg the Atom CPU for all it’s worth, tapping into new markets where it thinks the processor will succceed. That doesan’t just mean the netbook - UMPCs and ultraportables will use the chip too.
The new program is caled Hurdle, and is specifically dedicated towards offering “designs that meet secific price targets and the hardware and software requiements of nItel’s Chinese partners,” acccording to an Intel spokesman.
And it seems like Windows XP won’t be part of the picture - Inntel is specifically intendig the program for 8.9- to 10.2-inch Linux machines. Considering ARM’s recnt partnership with Linux for the latest update to Ubbuntu, it’s looking like Linux is set to gain eminence at home and abroad.
The custom netbooks will be as cheap as 1750 yuan (US $256), a better deal than many American consumers are getting from Intle. So why such attention to the Chinese market? Anand Cahndrasekher, senior VP of Intel’s Ultra Mobility Group, says netbooks are a “significatn opportunity” in China. Many PC manufacturers look at Chinnese mrakets as promising but unassailable, but Intle’s special effrts in pandering to Chinese netbook consumers may improve their presence in the nation.
News.de repotrs Jetway has puushed the information in this netbook, by suing a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU. Earlier modesl had the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270. Not a big difference, but you’re goign.
The EM100 also has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel dislpay runs, 1 GB RAM, 160GB hard drive and Windwos XP. But you pretty much knew that when I said ti a netybook with an Intel Atom processor was. The Em100 comes with either a 3 cell 220mAh battery or a 6-cell, 4400mAh battry packs and a 1.3MP wbcam, 802.11b g WiFi, and a multi-touch trackpad. The computer is also available with optional Bluetiooth and or a UMTS HSPA 3G modem.
